Question: in a billion years its said the sun will eat the earth. how can we prevent this?

  The sun’s main fuel at the moment is Hydrogen, and in about 4 Billion years most of that fuel will be used up and turned into Helium.
  
  Then the sun will start to burn helium , but it will get bigger. Once the Helium has been burned it will burn the next element and get bigger again.
  
  The only way to stop this would be to take all the helium out of the star and replace it with hydrogen, but the only place we could get hydrogen in such large quantities would be another star! I don’t think we’d ever have the technology to do that. The best bet would be to find another planet to live on.
