I had and still have many options. It is not a career dead end.
I could work in other sciency places, or work in industry on the next facebook or google for instance.
I am a mechanical engineer and I got a job offer from an energy company in Italy (something like British Gas here in UK). I think I would have enjoyed that job, but I love too much science so here I am !
The career options I had (and still have, to some extent) are mainly engineering, computing, teaching… Basically anything where being logical it’s a good thing.
I’ve worked on building sites in the past, so I’m sure I could train to be a builder or roofer.
I could probably still do a business degree and move into management if I wanted, but that sounds boring!
One of my friends from my physics course at uni is an editor for a magazine, so a science degree will open a lot of doors for you!
In medicine there are loads of career options – you could be a doctor on a desert island, or helping children in Africa, or a brain surgeon in London, or a GP in Scotland….. you can choose to look after lungs, or the heart, or maybe the liver…. the list goes on!
