Well a bat that feeds on blood.
      Yep this exists.

But the bit where the bat can turn into the undead person that is normally shown to be a vampire. Probably not, or at least science has not found one.

      mmmm…. I am afraid not.

As Dave said, there are some animals who feed on blood
but I think that is not enough to call them vampire.

      sorry mate, no vampire 😉

Well, they might not be real, but I still sleep with a bottle of holy water next to my bed. I mean, why take the chance?

      😉

      This is actually very interesting!

The original myth about human vampires stems from eastern Europe, where Dracula was said to have lived. There are records to suggest that some of the noble families suffered from a disease called cutaneous porphyria which can make people sensitive to sunlight and very anaemic, so they need blood transfusions. It’s not hard to see this condition being poorly understood in medieval times, and the myth about rich people in castles being afraid of sunlight and looking pale might stem from these families with this condition. I’m not sure if they could fly or actually sucked people’s blood though!
