• Question: Is it the concept of CGi (animation) that doesn't make it look quite real, or is it any lighting issues that may occur?

      Hi there ▄︻̷̿┻̿═━一

This image is a cgi picture.

I couldn’t tell you it wasn’t real! The reason that games and films don’t look quite this realistic is that it takes an artist a lot of time to make the model, and then it takes a lot of time on a very powerful computer to get the lighting to behave properly on a computer model as the model moves around.

One of the most difficult problems in computing is finding out when a ray of light intersects with a plane (i.e. so the computer knows it shouldn’t show us a building through a soldier in a computer game). It sounds really simple but it really isn’t!

There is a lot of physics in animation and computer games, so if you want to work at making films and games studying maths and physics is not a bad place to start!

      Stay awesome
