      Hi Rose,

It was not an experiment but it was a procedure to make new device.
In my work, I fabricate my own samples and devices which then I use in the experiments. Those devices have to be very clean and for that reason we make them in special room called clean rooms. The first time I entered a clean room it was very exciting. Google the name clean room and look for images.
You will see what I am talking about. It was cooooolll

Every one I do. I like the new challenge.
Everything is new and the all the possibilities are in front of you. I like not to look back and think wasn’t it great. I feel I am not pushing myself if I did that.

      Bigger, better, faster ……

      Hello Rose

The time I was most excited about an experiment was not long after I’d started work at Diamond. I had to measure the magnetic field of a magnet (insertion device) with a computer controlled Hall Probe and a wire coil. It was the first time I’d do this and I was excited about learning how to take the measurements and seeing what the magnetic field looked like.

It’s an everyday part of my job now, so I don’t find it that exciting any more…. but I still have new experiments to get excited about – like some experiments where I need to control the particle accelerator! 🙂

      Ed
