      Hi Mia

I love learning new things and I am lucky enough to work somewhere where everybody likes to talk about their work. So there is always something new to learn… Which does mean I sometimes get distracted from the work I’m meant to be doing! :-p

I wouldn’t say I’m an inspiration to my colleagues, but I hope they learn things from me as much as I learn from them!

No one is an island in science. I think you always need someone to bounce ideas off.

      Stay awesome.

      Hello Mia!

This is a great question because it allows me to explain one of the reasons why I really enjoy my work.

Scientists are really curious people, always eager to learn something new and happy to discuss and share their knowledge with their colleagues and also with a wider public.

It is so nice to get to know new things and to share your excitement! 🙂

I always try to ask as many questions as possible to my direct colleagues: their experience allows me to gain deeper and deeper knowledge of my field and this really benefits my day-to-day work.

I also find that exchanging ideas with scientists working in other fields is really useful, since this allows gaining a bigger picture of the scientific world, finding links between different subjects and establishing collaborations to carry out research together.

Therefore, I try to learn as many things as possible from other people, but I also enjoy sharing my ideas with them. 

In science we are always using the ideas and techniques that other people have used, and we try to do new things with them.

Scientists are always, always learning from each other – there is no scientist who does everything by themselves! Science is a team effort – so if you like working with other clever people and learning new things all the time you should think about becoming a scientist.

Sometimes things that I discover are useful to other scientists. So we are both learning and teaching people every day!

      Hi Mia

I have to agree with others here, its not how TV shows science like for example in the Big Bang Theory that you might have seen on TV, where there is a few brilliant people and everyone else is in their shadow.
No one person knows everything, and one of the great things about where I work is that there are many intersting people who are willing to share how they see an issue, and we all learn from each other.
So yes every day I am learning from others, and I am sure they would say the same.
