• Question: who invented the pinhole camera and why do we need to use it?!

      I dont know who invented it but you should definitely use one if you want to see the eclipse. Looking directly at the sun can burn the back of your eyeball – so be careful! The pin hole camera lets you see the eclipse indirectly

      Hugh’s got the ‘don’t look at the sun’ bit answered.

      I was going to claim the Greeks invented it (they invented a lot of stuff), but it seems that the Chinese knew about pinhole cameras two and a half THOUSAND years ago!
